The DTI Coiled Tubing Extreme Duty Over Pressure Release Joint enables the controlled and safe release of the tool string from the coiled tubing should the tool string get stuck.
The DTI Coiled Tubing Heavy Duty Over Pressure Release Joint does not require a drop ball to release, making it suitable for use below tools that have restricted ID’s, where drop balls cannot pass or where Coiled Tubing operations where wired / fibre optic coiled tubing, or other tool string tools prevent the use of drop balls
In normal operation, the latch mechanism is locked in place by a collar which is held in position by calibrated shock load protected shear pins. To release the joint, applying a predetermined pressure shears the pins and releases the latch collar. An overpull then shears the overpull release pins to separate the release joint and leave an internal fish neck which can be latched with a standard DTI GS Pulling Tool. The robust Release Joint can be used where high shock loads, vibrations, tensile force and / or torque forces are expected. The tool features a torque through sealed joint that can be released by applying pressure followed by tensile load.
The DTI Extreme Duty Release Joint is available in standard and H2S service versions.

- Shear pins can be supplied in either brass or steel to give a comprehensive pressure range to suit most coiled tubing applications.
- Shear pins are positioned inboard to eliminate the possibility of pins vibrating free during CT drilling operations.
