M-Bubble Bridge Plug delivers 244% OD transformation in a highly deviated well to deliver a successful water shut-off application offshore Australia.

DTI’s M-Bubble bridge plug has delivered a robust downhole solution for a challenging water shut-off project offshore Australia. The operator had previously tried to set a high expansion plug twice without success so had approached DTI for a solution. The plug needed to pass through 4.5” tubing with a 3.26” restriction and set and seal in a 7.625” liner so required a reliable OD transformation of 244%. This was a non-standard size requirement, so DTI designed, manufactured, tested and supplied a new M-Bubble plug with a 3.125” OD, in just twelve weeks.

The plug was deployed into the highly deviated well and set at a depth of almost 2,000m, to isolate up to 500 psi differential. It was successfully pressure tested a few weeks later to confirm seal integrity with positive feedback from the customer.
