The DTI Coiled Tubing Self Aligning Connector is a tool that enables the connection and disconnection of the CT tool string at surface where rotation of the tool string is restricted preventing the make up of conventional threaded connections. The tapered nose of the upper connectors enables make up even when the upper and lower parts of the tool string are mis-aligned due to the inherent bend in the coiled tubing.
Once the tapered nose is fully located into the bottom sub of the Self-Aligning Connector outer threaded collars can be used to secure the connection.
As well as O-Ring sealing the tapered nose also provided a metal to metal seal which is useful for longer term deployments such as for coiled tubing completion and gas lift strings. This tool can be used in conjunction with the DTI Permaseal Metal to Metal Coiled Tubing Slip Connector
